As the mainstream media focuses on a study that reveals a sharp decline in the nation’s illegal immigrant population, monthly welfare payments to children of undocumented aliens increased to $52 million in one U.S. county alone.
The hoopla surrounding last week’s news that the annual flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. dropped by two-thirds in the past decade overlooked an important matter; the cost of educating, incarcerating and medically treating illegal aliens hasn’t decreased along with it, but rather skyrocketed to the tune of tens of billions of dollars annually.

Those figures don’t even include the extra millions that local municipalities dish out on welfare payments to the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants, commonly known as anchor babies. In Los Angeles County alone that figure increased by nearly $4 million in the last year, sticking taxpayers with a whopping $52 million tab to provide illegal immigrants’ offspring with food stamps and other welfare benefits for just one month.
That means the nation’s most populous county, in the midst of a dire financial crisis, will spend more than $600 million this year to provide families headed by illegal immigrants with welfare benefits. In each of the past two years Los Angeles County taxpayers have spent about half a billion dollars just to cover the welfare and food-stamp costs of illegal immigrants. Additionally, the county spends $550 million on public safety and nearly $500 million on healthcare for illegal aliens.
About a quarter of the county’s welfare and food stamp issuances go to parents who reside in the United States illegally and collect benefits for their anchor babies, according to the figures from L.A. County’s Department of Social Services. Nationwide, Americans pay around $22 billion annually to provide illegal immigrants with welfare perks that include food assistance programs such as free school lunches in public schools, food stamps and a nutritional program (known as WIC) for low-income women and their children.

U.S. Taxpayers Spend $113 Billion Annually on Illegal Aliens
America has never been able to afford the costs of illegal immigration. With rising unemployment and skyrocketing deficits, federal and state lawmakers are now facing the results of failed policies. A new, groundbreaking report from FAIR, The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on U.S. Taxpayers, takes a comprehensive look at the estimated fiscal costs resulting from federal, state and local expenditures on illegal aliens and their U.S.-born children.
Expanding upon the series of state studies done in the past, FAIR has estimated the annual cost of illegal immigration to be $113 billion, with much of the cost — $84.2 billon — coming at the state and local level.

Executive Summary
This study is one of the first to estimate the total impact of illegal immigration on the federal budget. Most previous studies have focused on the state and local level and have examined only costs or tax payments, but not both. Based on Census Bureau data, this study finds that, when all taxes paid (direct and indirect) and all costs are considered, illegal households created a net fiscal deficit at the federal level of more than $10 billion in 2002. We also estimate that, if there was an amnesty for illegal aliens, the net fiscal deficit would grow to nearly $29 billion.
Among the findings:
Households headed by illegal aliens imposed more than $26.3 billion in costs on the federal government in 2002 and paid only $16 billion in taxes, creating a net fiscal deficit of almost $10.4 billion, or $2,700 per illegal household.
Among the largest costs are Medicaid ($2.5 billion); treatment for the uninsured ($2.2 billion); food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches ($1.9 billion); the federal prison and court systems ($1.6 billion); and federal aid to schools ($1.4 billion).
With nearly two-thirds of illegal aliens lacking a high school degree, the primary reason they create a fiscal deficit is their low education levels and resulting low incomes and tax payments, not their legal status or heavy use of most social services.
On average, the costs that illegal households impose on federal coffers are less than half that of other households, but their tax payments are only one-fourth that of other households.
Many of the costs associated with illegals are due to their American-born children, who are awarded U.S. citizenship at birth. Thus, greater efforts at barring illegals from federal programs will not reduce costs because their citizen children can continue to access them.
If illegal aliens were given amnesty and began to pay taxes and use services like households headed by legal immigrants with the same education levels, the estimated annual net fiscal deficit would increase from $2,700 per household to nearly $7,700, for a total net cost of $29 billion.
Costs increase dramatically because unskilled immigrants with legal status -- what most illegal aliens would become -- can access government programs, but still tend to make very modest tax payments.
Although legalization would increase average tax payments by 77 percent, average costs would rise by 118 percent.
The fact that legal immigrants with few years of schooling are a large fiscal drain does not mean that legal immigrants overall are a net drain -- many legal immigrants are highly skilled.
The vast majority of illegals hold jobs. Thus the fiscal deficit they create for the federal government is not the result of an unwillingness to work.
The results of this study are consistent with a 1997 study by the National Research Council, which also found that immigrants' education level is a key determinant.

30 Gulf cartel suspects captured in north Mexico
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican marines captured 30 suspected Gulf cartel members and seized an arsenal of weapons during two days of raids in a northern border state torn by drug gang battles, officials announced Wednesday.
The marines, acting on intelligence obtained by the navy and other agencies, conducted the raids in Matamoros and Reynosa, two cities across the border from Texas in the state of Tamaulipas, Rear Adm. Jose Luis Vergara said.
The troops seized more than 50 guns, two shoulder-fired rocket launchers, 21 grenades and ammunition.
The 30 suspects, including one woman, were paraded before reporters at an air base in Mexico City, handcuffed and flanked by masked marines in black-and-white combat gear. They were lined up in front of a helicopter, the arsenal of weapons laid out in front of them.
Despite the display, the navy gave no indication of how significant the arrests were in the government's efforts to destroy the Gulf cartel, which is waging a bloody turf war in Tamaulipas with its former ally, the Zetas gang of hit men.
Vergara said all 30 are believed to belong to the Gulf cartel but gave no details on their alleged roles in the gang. He took no questions.
Parading drug suspects in front of the media is a near-weekly ritual in Mexico that has come under increasing criticism from human rights groups.
Last week, opposition politicians grilled Public Safety Secretary Genaro Garcia Luna about the practice during a congressional hearing, calling it propaganda meant to deflect the public's concerns over the power of drug gangs.

Today, Americans face an unprecedented illegal immigration crisis facilitated by multi-billion dollar drug and human importing cartels as well as corporations which are inducing the invasion by aiding and abetting illegal aliens and using their influence on the Executive Branch and elections to paralyze existing immigration laws supported by over 80% of the American citizenry.
These events are not random and chaotic. Massive illegal immigration is the result of non-enforcement and under-enforcement of our existing immigration laws.
Supporters of illegal aliens love to claim that our immigration system is broken. The system is not broken. Elite financial and political business interests who could care less about the death and devastation they are causing Americans have sabotaged the system. Their profits continue to rise as they send the rest of America spiraling downward on a path to anarchy and Third World quality-of-life conditions.
By using their influence to suspend our existing laws, these globalist special interests have deprived all Americans of political representation as well as their votes, their voice, and a functioning Republic for which our flag stands.
When the laws of the American people – debated and voted on by their duly-elected Congressional Representatives and signed into law by the President – go intentionally under-enforced by the Executive Branch, all of the principles, sovereignty, and self-governance of Americans are derailed. The will of the American public, the existing laws, the US Constitution, and the borders of our great nation are perceived as market hindrances to the global elite. We the people of America are perceived as peasants and subjects beneath the power of their influence.
The American public has spoken through our lawmakers and in numerous polls. A super majority of Americans want our existing laws enforced, those responsible for illegal immigration fined and/or imprisoned, the borders secured, and illegal aliens deported from the United States for many years or permanently. These fact remain, despite several politicized polls which attempt to manufacture consent and make you believe such views represent a minority.
The truth is that most Americans want the illegal aliens to return to the nations of which they are citizens. The rallying cry is: "Illegals Go Home!"
We could easily list 101 reasons why Americans are upset about illegal immigration. Most are concerned about the 4,000+ preventable deaths of Americans by the criminal acts of illegal aliens on our soil each year. No corporate propaganda will change the fact that most Americans do not want to surrender or capitulate to the lawless masses rushing into our nation.
No poll or politicized source is needed to prove this point because the decision is based upon our nation's successful history and basic common sense. The answer is based on something that every judge, lawmaker, and even street thug knows. The penalties must outweigh the benefits if you want to deter any action.
It is common sense and common practice in America that for any law to be a deterrent, two important factors are in play. First, the laws must be enforced, and second, the penalties for any crime must exceed the benefits to those breaking the law.
It is truly amazing that we find ourselves as a nation having to explain these basic foundations of law to corporations and politicians in the year 2007 despite their existence since the dawn of civilization! Can you imagine what would happen in America if the penalty for robbing a bank was that you had to return half of the money you stole if, and only if, you were apprehended for the crime? What if the penalty for car theft was paying a $2,000 fine if you were caught with the stolen vehicle?
The answers are clear. Within a month, you would not have a bank open in America and you would not be able to keep a car worth more than $2,000 in your driveway for more than a week. How many millions of people would quickly take up the careers of bank robber and car thief once the rewards for the crime were higher than the penalty?
If American businesses and homes left their windows and doors unlocked each night and robbers were merely removed by police when detected – only to try again the next night – what do you think would happen? If big, global businesses practiced the same non-enforcement of security similar to the lack of border security and lack of immigration enforcement they have facilitated for Americans, they would be out of business in a matter of days or weeks. If they left their doors unlocked at night and just pushed people back to the street, America would quickly descend into such chaos and anarchy that we would be unable to sustain a population of 300 million. Our population would take a hit similar to the impact of the Black Plague on Europe, and we would quickly enter a new dark age.
Since illegal aliens can never afford to compensate Americans for what they have taken, they must go. We do not need to go door to door looking for illegals to deport in America. Attrition through enforcement works. Illegal aliens are leaving the states of Georgia and Pennsylvania in droves, not because they are enforcing the laws but because they have simply announced they plan to start!
Unfortunately, the current state of affairs in America has illegals flooding in by the millions each year and many law-abiding Americans fleeing the states of California and Texas and many towns and cities in search of more safety and security. Many Americans are on the run and finding few places left to run to.
The illegal aliens are sending a clear message on the streets of Los Angeles and other major urban centers. They are saying: "This is our land. White, black, and legal Hispanics get out!"
This is great news for the housing and real estate markets, Wal-Mart, and McDonalds. They are growing the economy using rapid population growth. This is great news for big corporations and bad news for Americans.
Attrition through enforcement will work. In fact, if President George Bush were to announce on national television that America would begin securing our borders and enforcing our existing laws in one month, so many illegal aliens would leave America that Mexico would have to set up refuge stations!
Another important reason that the illegal aliens must leave for the long term is that they'll return to their home communities with a message for their neighbors that their ill-gotten gains did not pay off in America. This is the only thing that will stop, or slow, the flow. Deporting illegal aliens and sending them packing is the only real way we can put a stop to this crisis.
The politicians in DC are very aware that Americans want the illegal aliens to go. That is why their latest Scamnesty legislation includes a “touchback” provision. Under these laws, the illegal aliens can hop across the Mexican or Canadian borders where special "Ellis Island" stations are set up for them to pay a fine, receive new documentation and be back in the US within days or hours.
The lunatics advocating this plan are counting on Americans to be so stupid and so gullible that they can say, "Look, the illegals left and walked back in legally. Problem solved!" They are eager to pretend to accommodate the American desires for the illegals to leave while quickly returning their slave labor force to our nation.
They know that Americans want illegals to leave and get behind a long line of legal immigrants waiting to enter the US, including millions of people who have been waiting 5-10 years. These politicians and the illegal aliens need to be shown the way to the back of the line. The back of the line is back in the country in which they are citizens, 5-10 years down the road behind all of the talented and law-abiding people who respect our laws.
If these traitorous corporations and politicians succeed in setting up these Ellis Island stations for “Operation Touchback," the revered symbol of Ellis Island will take on a new meaning that Americans see with contempt and resentment. Ellis Island will become a name associated with the horrendous betrayal of free Americans and the deathblow to the American Republic. This is a symbol of America’s surrender and the subjugation of all her people.
If we allow the politicians in DC to sign off on the many Guest Worker, Temporary Worker, Path to Citizenship, Amnesty, Scamnesty bills written by the US Chamber of Commerce, then no wall with an army on top of it will stop the next 20 million from crashing down on our country. We will have signaled that America is weak and will capitulate and accommodate. Already, the word is out in Central and South America that they can come and stay. Each time President Bush has opened his mouth about such programs, the US Border Patrol reports massive spikes in illegal crossings.
Since there is literally no end to the stream of illegals who want to be in America, this will be the end of America as we have known it and as history has praised it.
In the past, when America has cracked down on illegal immigration and the American people have signaled they want the immigration brakes applied, the policies have worked. New laws written near the turn of the 20th century greatly reduced the amount of immigration into America. Today, Americans face an unprecedented illegal immigration crisis facilitated by multi-billion dollar drug and human importing cartels as well as corporations which are inducing the invasion by aiding and abetting illegal aliens and using their influence on the Executive Branch and elections to paralyze existing immigration laws supported by over 80% of the American citizenry.
These events are not random and chaotic. Massive illegal immigration is the result of non-enforcement and under-enforcement of our existing immigration laws.
Supporters of illegal aliens love to claim that our immigration system is broken. The system is not broken. Elite financial and political business interests who could care less about the death and devastation they are causing Americans have sabotaged the system. Their profits continue to rise as they send the rest of America spiraling downward on a path to anarchy and Third World quality-of-life conditions.
By using their influence to suspend our existing laws, these globalist special interests have deprived all Americans of political representation as well as their votes, their voice, and a functioning Republic for which our flag stands.
When the laws of the American people – debated and voted on by their duly-elected Congressional Representatives and signed into law by the President – go intentionally under-enforced by the Executive Branch, all of the principles, sovereignty, and self-governance of Americans are derailed. The will of the American public, the existing laws, the US Constitution, and the borders of our great nation are perceived as market hindrances to the global elite. We the people of America are perceived as peasants and subjects beneath the power of their influence.
The American public has spoken through our lawmakers and in numerous polls. A super majority of Americans want our existing laws enforced, those responsible for illegal immigration fined and/or imprisoned, the borders secured, and illegal aliens deported from the United States for many years or permanently. These fact remain, despite several politicized polls which attempt to manufacture consent and make you believe such views represent a minority.
The truth is that most Americans want the illegal aliens to return to the nations of which they are citizens. The rallying cry is: "Illegals Go Home!"
We could easily list 101 reasons why Americans are upset about illegal immigration. Most are concerned about the 4,000+ preventable deaths of Americans by the criminal acts of illegal aliens on our soil each year. No corporate propaganda will change the fact that most Americans do not want to surrender or capitulate to the lawless masses rushing into our nation.
No poll or politicized source is needed to prove this point because the decision is based upon our nation's successful history and basic common sense. The answer is based on something that every judge, lawmaker, and even street thug knows. The penalties must outweigh the benefits if you want to deter any action.
It is common sense and common practice in America that for any law to be a deterrent, two important factors are in play. First, the laws must be enforced, and second, the penalties for any crime must exceed the benefits to those breaking the law.
It is truly amazing that we find ourselves as a nation having to explain these basic foundations of law to corporations and politicians in the year 2007 despite their existence since the dawn of civilization! Can you imagine what would happen in America if the penalty for robbing a bank was that you had to return half of the money you stole if, and only if, you were apprehended for the crime? What if the penalty for car theft was paying a $2,000 fine if you were caught with the stolen vehicle?
The answers are clear. Within a month, you would not have a bank open in America and you would not be able to keep a car worth more than $2,000 in your driveway for more than a week. How many millions of people would quickly take up the careers of bank robber and car thief once the rewards for the crime were higher than the penalty?
If American businesses and homes left their windows and doors unlocked each night and robbers were merely removed by police when detected – only to try again the next night – what do you think would happen? If big, global businesses practiced the same non-enforcement of security similar to the lack of border security and lack of immigration enforcement they have facilitated for Americans, they would be out of business in a matter of days or weeks. If they left their doors unlocked at night and just pushed people back to the street, America would quickly descend into such chaos and anarchy that we would be unable to sustain a population of 300 million. Our population would take a hit similar to the impact of the Black Plague on Europe, and we would quickly enter a new dark age.
Since illegal aliens can never afford to compensate Americans for what they have taken, they must go. We do not need to go door to door looking for illegals to deport in America. Attrition through enforcement works. Illegal aliens are leaving the states of Georgia and Pennsylvania in droves, not because they are enforcing the laws but because they have simply announced they plan to start!
Unfortunately, the current state of affairs in America has illegals flooding in by the millions each year and many law-abiding Americans fleeing the states of California and Texas and many towns and cities in search of more safety and security. Many Americans are on the run and finding few places left to run to.
The illegal aliens are sending a clear message on the streets of Los Angeles and other major urban centers. They are saying: "This is our land. White, black, and legal Hispanics get out!"
This is great news for the housing and real estate markets, Wal-Mart, and McDonalds. They are growing the economy using rapid population growth. This is great news for big corporations and bad news for Americans.
Attrition through enforcement will work. In fact, if President George Bush were to announce on national television that America would begin securing our borders and enforcing our existing laws in one month, so many illegal aliens would leave America that Mexico would have to set up refuge stations!
Another important reason that the illegal aliens must leave for the long term is that they'll return to their home communities with a message for their neighbors that their ill-gotten gains did not pay off in America. This is the only thing that will stop, or slow, the flow. Deporting illegal aliens and sending them packing is the only real way we can put a stop to this crisis.
The politicians in DC are very aware that Americans want the illegal aliens to go. That is why their latest Scamnesty legislation includes a “touchback” provision. Under these laws, the illegal aliens can hop across the Mexican or Canadian borders where special "Ellis Island" stations are set up for them to pay a fine, receive new documentation and be back in the US within days or hours.
The lunatics advocating this plan are counting on Americans to be so stupid and so gullible that they can say, "Look, the illegals left and walked back in legally. Problem solved!" They are eager to pretend to accommodate the American desires for the illegals to leave while quickly returning their slave labor force to our nation.
They know that Americans want illegals to leave and get behind a long line of legal immigrants waiting to enter the US, including millions of people who have been waiting 5-10 years. These politicians and the illegal aliens need to be shown the way to the back of the line. The back of the line is back in the country in which they are citizens, 5-10 years down the road behind all of the talented and law-abiding people who respect our laws.
If these traitorous corporations and politicians succeed in setting up these Ellis Island stations for “Operation Touchback," the revered symbol of Ellis Island will take on a new meaning that Americans see with contempt and resentment. Ellis Island will become a name associated with the horrendous betrayal of free Americans and the deathblow to the American Republic. This is a symbol of America’s surrender and the subjugation of all her people.
If we allow the politicians in DC to sign off on the many Guest Worker, Temporary Worker, Path to Citizenship, Amnesty, Scamnesty bills written by the US Chamber of Commerce, then no wall with an army on top of it will stop the next 20 million from crashing down on our country. We will have signaled that America is weak and will capitulate and accommodate. Already, the word is out in Central and South America that they can come and stay. Each time President Bush has opened his mouth about such programs, the US Border Patrol reports massive spikes in illegal crossings.
Since there is literally no end to the stream of illegals who want to be in America, this will be the end of America as we have known it and as history has praised it.

On the road this morning, I was waiting for the meter light to turn green while quietly musing at the lucky stiffs in the car pool lane. But, some guy was barreling past in the carpool land and I only saw one guy in the car. My calm dissipated as I saw the cheater cruise by me. He disrespected me and everyone else waiting their turn behind me.
I was angry as I was sure the other drivers waiting patiently were upset to see the skunk try to sneak past all of us waiting our turn.
The guy trying to cheat the law is just like what the illegal aliens are doing, cutting in front of law-abiding immigrant wanna-be's from other countries patiently waiting their turn.
Some of my Hispanic friends hate the illegal aliens cutting in front of their relatives who want to come to this country for the freedom and opportunity to advance. Plus my Hispanic friends are nervous because everyone looks at them twice wondering if they are illegal aliens. The illegal aliens are causing harm to their own people.
The good news for this story is that there was a cop on a motorcycle just waiting for the car pool violators. The cop pulled over the driver and gave him a ticket.
But that's where the analogy stops as the mayor of San Jose told his cops not to arrest people if the only violation is illegal immigrant status. So in this case, our friends, the cops have their hands tied. The cops are our first defense against lawbreakers, and short-sighted leaders like our mayor and city council let the lawbreakers go free.
The city leaders, like the mayor, city council, (and Santa Clara Board of Supervisors) that don't honor the Federal law against illegal immigration are co-conspirators, in my opinion, in the plague of illegal aliens flooding the country.
Think of the hypocrites in office at the local level. They put the blame on the federal government (again, Democrats like them), then they undercut the federal government's attempt to curtail illegal immigration by allowing illegal aliens safe have in San Jose and/or Santa Clara County.
Does that sound like any of our locally elected Democrat leaders have a rational thinking process?
I wish we could recall the mayor and the city council members that condemned Arizona (council member Madison Nguyen especially since she wrote the condemnation resolution).
I wish we could recall the members of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors that want to opt out of the "Secure Communities" program that identifies illegal aliens (some with serious criminal records, such as car theft, indecent exposure, domestic violence, drug charges, etc).
It is an injustice that our elected leaders make laws but go out of their way to trash our laws by caving in to illegal aliens from another country. It's like rubbing legal residents' noses in the dirt. Our elected leaders are saying they have no respect for law-abiding folks and that we are too stupid to make decisions recognizing that line-cutters need to be ostracized by a civilized society.
Trusting voters put these pusillanimous politicians into office. These informed voters now can throw these cowardly thinkers out into the street on election day, starting with Council Member Madison Nguyen.

Small-town mayor stoned to death in western Mexico

.MORELIA, Mexico – A small-town mayor and an aide were found stoned to death Monday in a drug-plagued western state, the fifth city leader to be slain in Mexico since mid-August.
Michoacan state Attorney General Jesus Montejano said the bodies of Tancitaro Mayor Gustavo Sanchez and city adviser Rafael Equihua were discovered in a pickup truck abandoned on a dirt road near the city of Uruapan.
Montejano's spokesman, Jonathan Arredondo, said initially that the victims were hacked to death with a machete, but the attorney general said they were killed with stones.
Arredondo said police were trying to determine a possible motive.
Tancitaro, a town of 26,000 people, is in a region where soldiers have destroyed more than 20 meth labs in the last year and several police officers have been killed by suspected drug gang members.
Last year the city council chief, Gonzalo Paz, was kidnapped, tortured and killed. Then in December, the mayor and seven other town officials resigned saying they had been threatened by drug traffickers and local police were not showing up to work.
Soon after, the department's entire 60-officer force was fired for failing to stop a series of killings and other crimes, and Michoacan state police and soldiers took over security in the town. Sanchez was named mayor in January.
Also Monday in Michoacan, five gunmen and a marine were killed in a shootout in Coahuayana on the Pacific coast, the navy said in a statement. A second marine was wounded, and authorities were searching for more gunmen.
Coahuayana authorities canceled school and warned people to stay indoors.
The navy said another gunbattle across the country in the Gulf coast state of Tamaulipas left eight gunmen and one marine dead in the border city of Reynosa.
Meanwhile, the Defense Department said soldiers arrested a man suspected in the kidnapping and killing of the mayor of Santiago in the border state of Nuevo Leon. It said in a statement that Miguel Cervantes was arrested Monday.
In the border state of Chihuahua, gunmen broke into a police complex, subdued the guards and stole at least 40 automatic rifles and 23 handguns, police spokesman Fidel Banuelos said.
Banuelos said 10 officers who were in the building at the time were being questioned. He said it was not clear whether the assailants were members of a drug cartel.
In Ciudad Juarez, a border city in Chihuahua, the Public Safety Department announced the capture of a drug gang member who allegedly helped set up a car bomb that killed three people.
Suspect Jose Contreras allegedly killed a man and dressed him in a police uniform to lure federal agents to the area where the car bomb exploded, killing a federal police officer and a doctor who was helping the shooting victim.
Contreras is a member of La Linea gang, which works for the Juarez drug cartel, the department said in a statement.
Ciudad Juarez, across the border from El Paso, Texas, has become one of the world's most dangerous cities amid a turf war between the Sinaloa and Juarez cartels.

I live in a nice part of live Oak and have for 18 years , on a nice quiet ,clean neighborhood.....that is until this HUGE family of Hispanics moved in next door ! 9 kids ! and the mother is pregenant again ! All of the sudden my peace and quiet is gone !The fat fuckin mom and all the kids constantly screaming in Spanish .....Mariachi music BLARING on Sunday untill midnite...6 cars and a broken down van parked on the lawn....3 chihauhas that bark constantly and shit on my lawn ...These people actually just throw there kids dirty diapers onto their driveway and leave them there ...like its normal or something ! Is this how these people act in Mexico? They are the filthiest disgusting group of illegal immigrants ! Is this what Santa Cruz s " sanctuary city " policy is all about ? For the second consecutive year taxpayers in a single U.S. county will dish out more than half a billion dollars just to cover the welfare and food-stamp costs of illegal immigrants.
Los Angeles County, the nation’s most populous, may be in the midst of a dire financial crisis but somehow there are plenty of funds for illegal aliens. In January alone, anchor babies born to the county’s illegal immigrants collected more than $50 million in welfare benefits. At that rate the cash-strapped county will pay around $600 million this year to provide illegal aliens’ offspring with food stamps and other welfare perks.
The exorbitant figure, revealed this week by a county supervisor, doesn’t even include the enormous cost of educating, medically treating or incarcerating illegal aliens in the sprawling county of about 10 million residents. Los Angeles County annually spends more than $1 billion for those combined services, including $500 million for healthcare and $350 million for public safety.
About a quarter of the county’s welfare and food stamp issuances go to parents who reside in the United States illegally and collect benefits for their anchor babies, according to the figures from the county’s Department of Social Services. In 2009 the tab ran $570 million and this year’s figure is expected to increase by several million dollars.
Illegal immigration continues to have a “catastrophic impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,” the veteran county supervisor (Michael Antonovich) who revealed the information has said. I am a citizen who is really concerned with illegal immigration. Living in a community where the majority are mexican I have come to observe the following things:
1. Children of illegal immigrants going up and down the street doing nothing but stupid things such as tagging (graffiti), drugs (smoking pot in public), and most of all taking up space in our local schools putting them farther down the sewage with poor performance.
2. The parents of the so called "citizens" are illegal immigrants for starters. They only come to this country to birth not 1 but up to 5 kids. Why? So they can live off of wellfare and ride around in their fixed up SUV or truck with fancy wheels and "native birthplace" stickers on back window. They got pride that's for sure. Now with the extra money not reported to taxes, what do they do? Send it to mexico so they can have these grand houses and cars there too.
3. Most of those people work with fake social security numbers and give false information. They buy things on credit regardless if they can afford it or not because in the end all they do is run back to their native land when they can't pay it off, farther damaging the debts in our country.
Those are some of the highlights I have observed so far that just got me thinking. Now the importance of all this is that I'm of MEXICAN decent, you read right but before that I am an AMERICAN after all I live here in the UNITED STATES and not in mexico, besides I was proud of my heritage and still am deep down but illegal immigrants have ruined it for me to the point that I'm embarrassed as being portrayed as another free-loading illegal. Therefore now I'm just a concerned citizen who does things the way they are suppose to be down which is the RIGHT way. Well if you have read this far then I hope that my message has come across and you will see how not only do ILLEGAL immigrants expect full rights of a CITIZEN but they expect us citizens to raise their kids, give them free education, and help them gain property in their native land. Let's not forget the thousands that march the streets demanding for citizenship when they haven't done anything for this country the right way. My last hope is for congress to get together and forbid citizenship to illegal immigrants' children but then again that's just a dream if we as citizens don't speak up.

The anchor baby scam has proven lucrative for illegal aliens in Los Angeles County, at considerable cost to our own poor and downtrodden legal citizenry.
The numbers show that more than $50 million in CalWORKS benefits and food stamps for January went to children born in the United States whose parents are in the country without documentation. This represents approximately 23 percent of the total benefits under the state welfare and food stamp programs, Antonovich said.
"When you add this to $350 million for public safety and nearly $500 million for health care, the total cost for illegal immigrants to county taxpayers far exceeds $1 billion a year -- not including the millions of dollars for education," Antonovich said.

Arrests of illegal immigrant workers have dropped precipitously under President Obama, according to figures released Wednesday. Criminal arrests, administrative arrests, indictments and convictions of illegal immigrants at work sites all fell by more than 50 percent from fiscal 2008 to fiscal 2009.
The figures show that Mr. Obama has made good on his pledge to shift enforcement away from going after illegal immigrant workers themselves - but at the expense of Americans' jobs, said Rep. The illegal immigrants who found a niche in the OC were further encouraged by President Clinton's suggestion to Californians that they leave the duty of immigration enforcement to the federal government, and later when Gov. Davis abandoned Proposition 187 that was up for appeal to the court. Many relatives of the Mexican immigrants move into the Tijuana neighborhoods prior to their arrival in Orange County in order for them to be near their relatives in California and for the purpose of seeking employment. This explains part of the extreme traffic in and out of Mexico by way of Interstate 5 that links Orange County with Mexico. Many of the visiting relatives remained in Orange County and brought anchor babies into the world. Loretta Sanchez’ campaign felt that they would need to get out to register many of the immigrants that were believed to have not voted in the past elections. She won the congressional election against Rep. Dornan by 979 votes. Since there were illegal immigrants living in the 47th Congressional District, he was skeptical about the legality of voter registrations as he was about his loss in the final tally. There were tainted ballots that amounted to 76 percent of Loretta’s decisive votes.

The communities of the 47th Congressional District have changed a lot since the early seventies though the old town district in Santa Ana had abundant Mexican culture before that period. The district encompasses the older town districts of Garden Grove, Santa Ana and Anaheim that have been among the seediest communities of Orange County. The district has an ugly crime rate of frequent offenses, largely of thefts and assaults. Loretta Sanchez supports the illegal immigrants in her district and Orange County has not interfered with them while the rate of illegal immigration has climbed considerably, particularly since the passage of the Simpson-Mazzoli Act by Congress in 1986 that was partly an amnesty for illegal immigrants in the United States.

Nguyen's staff sent letters to 14,000 voters with Spanish surnames saying "illegal" immigrants were not allowed to vote and warning them of legal consequences if they did (and btw illegals voting is against the law). Your article states immigrants in general are not allowed to vote and this is incorrect. Be more careful in your reporting.

There was good reason for this. In Sanchez's victory over Robert Dornan in 1996, in which she was originally declared to have won by a margin of 984 votes, 124 of her votes were disqualified because they were improperly delivered absentee ballots, and 624 votes were found to have been cast by "illegal, non-citizen voters." I don't know it they were illegal aliens or legal resident aliens who just voted illegally.

Democratic Rep. Loretta Sanchez found herself in hot water this week after she said in a Spanish-language interview that "the Vietnamese" and Republicans were trying to take control of her seat.
Sanchez, who is up for reelection, was put on the defensive after her main opponent, Assemblyman Van Tran (R-Garden Grove), a Vietnamese American, jumped on the issue and called her statements "offensive" and "divisive."
The tiff highlights the political dichotomy of central Orange County, where two big voting blocs are Latinos and Vietnamese.
In an interview last week on Univision, a nationally broadcast Spanish-language television network, Sanchez said in Spanish: "The Vietnamese and the Republicans are — with intensity — trying to take away this seat, this seat for which we have already done so much for our community. [Taking] this seat from us and [giving] it to this Van Tran, who's very anti-immigrant and very anti-Hispanic."
Her campaign released a statement saying Sanchez was referring to "those in the Vietnamese community who are supporting her opponent."
Sanchez has worked for years to shore up support from Vietnamese Americans, who make up a sizable portion of her constituents. She attends Vietnamese festivals wearing traditional ao dai tunics and is outspoken about human rights abuses and political freedom in Vietnam, an issue dear to the hearts of Vietnamese Americans in Little Saigon, which has the largest population of Vietnamese in the country.
Such positions have earned the Democratic congresswoman support from many Vietnamese Americans, who are traditionally right-leaning.
Sanchez is facing her toughest reelection race in years against Tran, the highest-ranking Vietnamese American politician in California and somewhat of a kingmaker in Little Saigon.
Tran said he believes her statements will damage her standing in the Vietnamese community. In an interview, he characterized Sanchez's remarks as a "racial rampage."
"This is a mischaracterization that there is an alleged wedge between the Vietnamese and Latino community," he said.
Tran wrote a letter to Sanchez's office asking for an apology for her comments. "With such a diverse immigrant population that call central Orange County home, you should know better than stoking the flames of racial division in our community," he wrote.
The 47th Congressional District, which encompasses parts of Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Anaheim, has the only House seat held by a Democrat in Orange County. Sanchez has been in the post since 1997.
About 44% of voters in the district are Latino, and 18% are Asian, mostly Vietnamese, according to the California Target Book, a nonpartisan reference work that tracks legislative and congressional races.
It remains to be seen what the reaction to Sanchez's statements will be in the Vietnamese community. The remarks were highlighted on several conservative blogs such as Hot Air and Andrew Breitbart's network, but news of them has taken longer to reach Little Saigon.
Tran attributes this to the statements' being somewhat lost in translation, having to be translated first from Spanish to English, and then to Vietnamese. On Friday, an article in the largest Vietnamese language newspaper, Nguoi Viet, reported the controversy.
This is not the first time a campaign for this congressional seat has seen controversy along racial lines. Just weeks before the 2006 election, Republican candidate Tan Nguyen's staff sent letters to 14,000 voters with Spanish surnames saying immigrants were not allowed to vote and warning them of legal consequences if they did.

Just a little bit of history on this woman. She used to be a Republican and ran unsuccessfully for Anaheim City Council in 1994 under her married name Loretta Brixey.
Becoming aware of the demographic increase in Hispanics in her area, she changed her party affiliation to Democrat and used her maiden name "Sanchez" while running for the 46th U.S. Congressional district in 1996, narrowly defeating incumbent Bob Dorman.
Sanchez, who lived by the sword is now finding that she is dying by it. She now finds herself on the receiving end of race-identity politics, something she thought could never happen. Alas, the ballots have been printed, and it appears there won't be enough time for her to change her name to Loretta Nguyen
So, how does it feel, Loretta? Muy bueno?

The illegal immigrants who found a niche in the OC were further encouraged by President Clinton's suggestion to Californians that they leave the duty of immigration enforcement to the federal government, and later when Gov. Davis abandoned Proposition 187 that was up for appeal to the court. Many relatives of the Mexican immigrants move into the Tijuana neighborhoods prior to their arrival in Orange County in order for them to be near their relatives in California and for the purpose of seeking employment. This explains part of the extreme traffic in and out of Mexico by way of Interstate 5 that links Orange County with Mexico. Many of the visiting relatives remained in Orange County and brought anchor babies into the world. Loretta Sanchez’ campaign felt that they would need to get out to register many of the immigrants that were believed to have not voted in the past elections. She won the congressional election against Rep. Dornan by 979 votes. Since there were illegal immigrants living in the 47th Congressional District, he was skeptical about the legality of voter registrations as he was about his loss in the final tally. There were tainted ballots that amounted to 76 percent of Loretta’s decisive votes.

The district encompasses the older town districts of Garden Grove, Santa Ana and Anaheim that have been among the seediest communities of Orange County. The district has an ugly crime rate of frequent offenses, largely of thefts and assaults. Loretta Sanchez supports the illegal immigrants in her district and Orange County has not interfered with them while the rate of illegal immigration has climbed considerably, particularly since the passage of the Simpson-Mazzoli Act by Congress in 1986 that was partly an amnesty for illegal immigrants in the United States.

In Sanchez's victory over Robert Dornan in 1996, in which she was originally declared to have won by a margin of 984 votes, 124 of her votes were disqualified because they were improperly delivered absentee ballots, and 624 votes were found to have been cast by "illegal, non-citizen voters." I don't know it they were illegal aliens or legal resident aliens who just voted illegally.

Democratic Rep. Loretta Sanchez found herself in hot water this week after she said in a Spanish-language interview that "the Vietnamese" and Republicans were trying to take control of her seat.
Sanchez, who is up for reelection, was put on the defensive after her main opponent, Assemblyman Van Tran (R-Garden Grove), a Vietnamese American, jumped on the issue and called her statements "offensive" and "divisive."
The tiff highlights the political dichotomy of central Orange County, where two big voting blocs are Latinos and Vietnamese.
In an interview last week on Univision, a nationally broadcast Spanish-language television network, Sanchez said in Spanish: "The Vietnamese and the Republicans are — with intensity — trying to take away this seat, this seat for which we have already done so much for our community. [Taking] this seat from us and [giving] it to this Van Tran, who's very anti-immigrant and very anti-Hispanic."
Her campaign released a statement saying Sanchez was referring to "those in the Vietnamese community who are supporting her opponent."
Sanchez has worked for years to shore up support from Vietnamese Americans, who make up a sizable portion of her constituents. She attends Vietnamese festivals wearing traditional ao dai tunics and is outspoken about human rights abuses and political freedom in Vietnam, an issue dear to the hearts of Vietnamese Americans in Little Saigon, which has the largest population of Vietnamese in the country.
Such positions have earned the Democratic congresswoman support from many Vietnamese Americans, who are traditionally right-leaning.
Sanchez is facing her toughest reelection race in years against Tran, the highest-ranking Vietnamese American politician in California and somewhat of a kingmaker in Little Saigon.
Tran said he believes her statements will damage her standing in the Vietnamese community. In an interview, he characterized Sanchez's remarks as a "racial rampage."
"This is a mischaracterization that there is an alleged wedge between the Vietnamese and Latino community," he said.
Tran wrote a letter to Sanchez's office asking for an apology for her comments. "With such a diverse immigrant population that call central Orange County home, you should know better than stoking the flames of racial division in our community," he wrote.
The 47th Congressional District, which encompasses parts of Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Anaheim, has the only House seat held by a Democrat in Orange County. Sanchez has been in the post since 1997.
About 44% of voters in the district are Latino, and 18% are Asian, mostly Vietnamese, according to the California Target Book, a nonpartisan reference work that tracks legislative and congressional races.
It remains to be seen what the reaction to Sanchez's statements will be in the Vietnamese community. The remarks were highlighted on several conservative blogs such as Hot Air and Andrew Breitbart's network, but news of them has taken longer to reach Little Saigon.
Tran attributes this to the statements' being somewhat lost in translation, having to be translated first from Spanish to English, and then to Vietnamese. On Friday, an article in the largest Vietnamese language newspaper, Nguoi Viet, reported the controversy.
This is not the first time a campaign for this congressional seat has seen controversy along racial lines. Just weeks before the 2006 election, Republican candidate Tan Nguyen's staff sent letters to 14,000 voters with Spanish surnames saying immigrants were not allowed to vote and warning them of legal consequences if they did.
